    The Ohio State University's Department of Horticulture and Crop Science is seeking a Turfgrass Science Research Associate to join a team dedicated to advancing turfgrass management. This position, under the supervision of Dr. Tyler Carr, will play a key role in conducting innovative research that benefits the turfgrass industry.

     

    Summary of Responsibilities:

    • Conduct field and greenhouse experiments focused on turfgrass management through research areas including fertilization, mowing practices, irrigation strategies, cultivation techniques, establishment methods, and cultivar evaluation.

    • Assist graduate and undergraduate students with their research projects, fostering a collaborative research environment.

    • Prepare data visualizations (graphs) and comprehensive reports for internal and external audiences, including presentations for Extension activities.

    • Participate in the development of novel research protocols, reports, databases, and data analysis procedures to support project goals and objectives.

    • Analyze data effectively to interpret research findings, draw conclusions, and contribute to high-quality publications.

     

    Additional Information:

    Degree Requirements: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

    Experience Requirement: 1-3 years experience required

     

    The salary range for this position is $42,700.00 - $56,900.00.

    The salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.

    Location: Maketewah Country Club (Cincinnati, OH)

    Position Title: 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

    Salary: $65,000+, Depending on experience  (Full-Time)

    Maketewah Country Club is a  Donald Ross designed course, with a strong emphasis on golf located in Cincinnati, Ohio.  The club is currently working with architect Brain Silva on finishing his master plan for Maketewah.  The final phase to our master plan started in the Fall of 2022, and will include fairway bunkering, rerouting of fairways, and all new teeing complexes.  Along with the course renovations, a new irrigation system will be installed.

    The  Assistant  will work closely with the superintendent in all aspects of course maintenance, as well as in construction of the club’s master plan. This will be a great opportunity to learn all aspects on turf maintenance, along with construction,  and irrigation installation in the transition zone of the country.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Must have a 2- or 4-year degree in turf grass management or a related field. 
    • Individuals currently enrolled in a turf program are welcome to apply
    • Some golf course experience helpful, but not required as we are willing to train anyone willing to learn.
    • Must be able to obtain state pesticide license
