Moraine Country Club is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Assistant In
Training position for the upcoming 2019 season. A terrific opportunity for the
right person to gain experience in preparing the golf course for the upcoming
2019 Ohio Amateur in July.
Moraine Country Club is an 18 Hole Championship Golf Course located in
Kettering, Ohio. A vibrant history precedes this golf course. The course
recently completed a total renovation in 2015. Greens (Pure Distinction), Tees
and Fairways (007) have been re-grassed to bent-grass. Architect Keith Foster
developed the Master plan. He was able to maintain the integrity of the golf
course while enhancing its natural features. The property is a one of a kind. A
Moraine is a terminal glacier, which left undulations you typically only find on
a golf course in Ireland or Scotland. The original architect Alec “Nipper”
Campbell was initially the golf pro at The Country Club in Brookline,
Massachusetts. He was born and raised in Scotland and had a respect for the
links-style golf courses in his homeland. You could only imagine how he felt
the moment he stepped onto the property and felt like he was back in his native
Scotland. Moraine has held the Ohio Amateur every ten years starting in
1979, 1989, 1999, 2009, and will be hosting again in 2019. Byron Nelson won
the 1945 PGA Championship which was the last major he won. Nelson won
11 tournaments in a row in 1945, and the PGA at Moraine was his ninth
victory during that streak. The streak of winning 11 PGA events in a row is
still a record today.
